Mera Peak Expedition
Mera Peak Expedition overview
At 6,476m, Mera Peak is the highest trekking peak in Nepal, and one of the most accessible high-altitude summits on the planet. For those taking their first steps into high altitude mountaineering, this is about as good an introduction as it gets.
At Vertex Expeditions, we’ve designed this expedition for adventurers who are ready to go beyond trekking and experience their first real summit, without needing an extensive climbing background to get there. Mera Peak is the ideal entry point into high altitude mountaineering, a genuine expedition in every sense, but one that is well within reach for anyone who is fit, motivated and prepared to put in the work.
The approach follows the wild and remote Hinku Valley, a dramatic contrast to the busier Everest trails winding through rhododendron forests and high alpine terrain before the mountain itself comes into view. It’s a journey that feels genuinely off the beaten track, and all the more rewarding for it.
On summit day, you’ll be roped up and moving with our highly experienced team of local guides across glaciated terrain to the top. The reward is one of the most extraordinary panoramas in the Himalayas five 8,000m peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu and Kanchenjunga, laid out across the horizon.
This is where mountaineering begins. And there are few better places to start.
