Annapurna Base Camp

Annapurna Base Camp overview

The Annapurna Base Camp trek is one of Nepal’s most rewarding mountain journeys, a route that draws you deep into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary, a vast natural amphitheatre ringed by some of the highest peaks on earth. At 4,130m, Base Camp sits at the foot of Annapurna I, surrounded by a wall of giants that creates one of the most dramatic mountain settings imaginable.

At Vertex Expeditions, we’ve designed this itinerary as an accessible but genuinely spectacular Himalayan experience. The route winds through terraced hillsides, rhododendron forests and traditional Gurung villages before the valley narrows and the mountains close in around you. The final approach to Base Camp, with the Annapurna massif towering overhead on all sides, is a moment that never fails to leave an impression.

Unlike some of Nepal’s longer treks, the Annapurna Base Camp route is compact enough to feel achievable without ever feeling underwhelming. The altitude is serious, the scenery is extraordinary, and the sense of arrival at Base Camp completely enclosed by peaks exceeding 7,000m makes every step of the climb worthwhile.

Whether this is your first Himalayan trek or one of many, the Annapurna Sanctuary is one of those places that is simply impossible to forget.
